FAQ

Course

It varies according to each home University or College. Some may accept the transcript of credits based on the course content, syllabus and class hours. However, the specific arrangement needs to be made directly with your home University. IBS Americas is happy to work with your Institution to provide any documentation required for a credit transfer process. Consult your secretary.

The Advanced programs are designed for graduate students with a minimum of 3 years of working experience in their field of interest.

Courses are 3 weeks with classes from Monday to Wednesday full-time. The student will take the administration module in one period and, in the case of students from the United States and England, the English module in another. In Italy, the other period is dedicated to the preparation of the work to be presented at the end of the course.
On Thursdays, students in the thematic courses have company visits or lectures with local executives.
Please refer to the course page for specific details of course load, syllabus and extra activities.

Program participants receive two certificates:

Certificate in Executive Management – for the thematic courses in the areas of administration
Business English Program – for the Business English module ]

Consult your university for additional hours and credits.

Since the programs are 100% in English, to participate in the business-themed programs, the minimum level of English required is intermediate, and for the Business English course, the elementary level of English is fine.

The students will visit companies active in the local market or receive representatives at the university for lectures according to the course's area of study. It is expected that students have a very proactive attitude, asking interesting questions to the representative of the organization.

We recommend that you take your laptop to develop the work and activities. It will also be useful for accessing the library and digital materials made available by the professors.

Payment

Payment can be made in full directly in foreign currency. If the student chooses to perform the transaction through PayPal, a 5% platform fee will be added; if choosing payment via Wise, platform rates calculated directly on the app are used, which vary according to the student's country of residence.

Payment can be made in up to 16 installments directly in foreign currency. If the student chooses to perform the transaction through PayPal, a 5% platform fee will be added to each payment; if choosing payment via Wise, platform rates calculated directly on the app are used, which vary according to the student's country of residence.

For students residing in Brazil, payment can be made via bank slip or credit card (with monthly entries to avoid compromising your limit).

It is possible to make payment with foreign currency through transfers using Wise or PayPal. If you wish to make the payment in this way, please inform the Admission department. If these platforms are not available in your country, please let the IBS Americas team know so we can review your case and assist with alternatives.

You will receive all guidance on the payment of your program after signing the contract.

Preparation

Yes. The university requires all students to have Health Insurance or at least Travel Insurance with medical coverage to participate in the program. However, be aware of the minimum requirements required by each university. To do this, check the post on the Student Portal or contact the Preparation department.

You must provide us with your insurance details so that we can share it with the university before the program is completed. This is important as accidents or health problems may occur with a member of the group. Remember that health services for foreigners are not free even in cases of emergency.

To meet other students, you can attend the Preparatory Meetings. At these events you can, in addition to asking questions, network and exchange contact information to trade travel tips, find a colleague to share a room, share car rental, among others. In addition, a few days before the program, we create the official WhatsApp groups used as official communication during the course.

We recommend you arrive the weekend before classes start.

You can request a course add-on up to two times at no cost, as long as the request is made formally by email no later than 60 days before the course starts.

There is no mandatory activity before classes begin. However, on the weekend leading up to the start of the course, for programs in the United States and England, there is the Campus Tour, an optional (but recommended) activity in which you can get to know the Campus, structure, rules and classmates.

For all destinations, we recommend that students arrive on the Saturday before the program to familiarize themselves with the surroundings of where they will be staying and take the time to rest and prepare for the first day of class.

We start the trip about 5 months before the start of classes. All information will be emailed to students in addition to two preparatory meetings prior to the trip, in which we address topics about the university, destination, transfers, accommodations, food, travel and health insurance, etc. The background readings will be sent approximately three months before the trip.

In New York (Albany and New Paltz), it is recommended that students disembark at JFK airport; in California (CSUN and ULV), we suggest Los Angeles airport – LAX; and in Florida, Miami International Airport – MIA. In Italy (CUOA), the recommended airport is Marco Polo – VCE (Venice). In England (Pearson College London), the recommended airport is Heathrow Airport – LHR (London).

For the United States, you must have a passport with a visa valid for at least six months after your arrival, Letter of Intent (can be requested at our Preparation department or through the Student Portal), return ticket to your home country, and proof of your accommodation reservation. -

In the case of Europe, if your visa is granted at the time of arrival, then have your valid passport, Letter of Intent, ticket back to the country of origin and proof of accommodation reservation. Students of other nationalities should check the requirements on the website of the consulate of the destination country.

Students going to California and Italy receive by email a link with all the necessary information for accommodations around one month before the start of the classes. For all other destinations, accommodation is booked by the student.

There will be no escort upon arrival at the airport. For students en route to California programs, we recommend that students use services such as Uber or Lyft.

For students who will go to NY or Italy courses, a day, a time and a meeting point at the airport where there will be an assistant professor who will accompany the group to the vicinity of the university may be scheduled.

Please note that this service is subject to change without notice, so please be aware of communications on the Student Portal.

Scholarship

To be considered for any of our courses, students must be regularly enrolled or have completed their graduation degree, MBA, or Master's studies. There are different courses for each academic level.

If you want to supplement the scholarship, we suggest you check with your company's Human Resources department or your university's international programs department. Some universities or businesses offer this type of benefit.

The number of scholarships varies according to the availability of the universities' funding for each period. Our classes have up to 30 students.

There are no costs for participation in the scholarship selection process.

If approved, the candidate must pay the first installment with the scholarship percentage applied to secure his or her place and confirm enrollment.

No. The sponsoring foundations prefer to offer a larger number of partial scholarships rather than a limited number of full scholarships. Despite being partial scholarships, they cover a fairly large percentage of the course, making it easier to study abroad.

The selection process involves the analysis of the Application Form, where the candidate must fill out academic and professional information online.

Basically, two criteria are applied in the evaluation of applicants: curriculum score and suitability to the course's theme.

The Admission team will analyze the mentioned criteria with the support of the Cover Letter that is filled out at the end of the form.

To participate in the programs and concur for scholarships with IBS Americas you must be at least 18 years old, be enrolled or have completed a higher education course at University or College. Furthermore, to participate in the business-themed programs, the minimum level of English required is intermediate, and for the Business English courses at SUNY and ULV, the elementary level of English is fine.

At the time of submission of the Application Form you must attach a copy of your identification document. Subsequently, academic documents related to your training will be requested.

The amount includes expenses directly linked to the course, namely: enrollment, preparation for the trip, classes, teaching materials, participation in mandatory visits, certificates and graduation. And the student will have the support of IBS throughout the preparation stage: access to the Student Portal, guidance for the visa process, English proficiency testing, guidance on optional visits, invitations to online preparatory meetings, and email support.

Airfare, airport transfer, accommodation, food, transportation and health insurance.

The analysis of the candidate's profile and award result is sent by email within five business days after receiving the Application Form.

Visa and Immigration

No. The programs offered by IBS Americas in partnership with universities aim to hold workshops and visits, as well as lectures. Students should not look for extra activities that involve remuneration on account of the full-time workload of the program, as well as a visa that does not allow paid activity.

To travel to the United States, several nationalities require a visa to enter the country. For IBS Americas programs, you must apply for the B1/B2 (Tourism and Business) visa.

Citizens of some countries are entitled to the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA). Check if this is your case.

For Europe, most nationalities are exempt from prior visa, and their entry is authorized upon arrival in the countries. For more details, consult the consulate of the destination country.

The issuance of the visa is the sole responsibility of the American Consulate, and the final word of the consular officer who interviewed you is based on the consistency of your responses on the form and during the interview. Thus, IBS Americas has no power of influence over the country's decisions and cannot guarantee approval.

The first step is to make an appointment at the United States Embassy, many nationalities are exempt from visas for the benefit of the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).

Remember that before you start applying for a visa, you must have a valid passport. Make the request at the issuing agency of your country.

With the passport in hand, you will be able to apply for the Tourism and Business visa (B1/B2). Fill out the online form to begin the process, consult the Student Portal or ask the Preparation department for the guide on how to carry out this process. After completing the form, you must pay the consular fee and can schedule two appointments: one at the Visa Applicant Service Center (CASV) and another at the Consulate/Embassy. Do not forget to request your Letter of Endorsement for the appointment at the Consulate.

We remind you that our course is classified by the American consulate as a cultural exchange program for executives. The type of visa you should apply for is the B1/B2 (Tourism/Business).

If your Visa got denied, you must try to remember exactly what the embassy official mentioned as the reason for the denial and keep the proof of Visa deny. Then, you should contact IBS Americas, to receive instructions and a new Endorsement Letter, so you can try to reapply.

After completing the course, you may stay in the country as long as you do not exceed the time indicated in your visa, knowing that IBS Americas will not assist you after the program.

You must apply for the B1/B2 (Tourism/Business) visa as the programs offered by IBS Americas do not meet the minimum 17-hour weekly requirements for the student visa.

The Tourism and Business visa allows the student to extend the stay to visit other cities and is valid for up to ten years. In addition to being less costly and bureaucratic.
